2nd Chance Outreach

" For I was Hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me,
I was in prison and you came to visit me."
Matthew 25:35-40

Our outreach team just finished its third week of feeding the homeless, serving over 250 burgers, soft drinks, and chips to those in need. We set up the BBQ at the feeding site, cooking about 260 patties and providing 250 cans of soft drinks. With the help of 10 dedicated volunteers, we took a moment to pray with the homeless before starting the BBQ, asking God for protection and for more people to come and eat with us.

During the event, a woman approached us, looking sad, and introduced herself as Ashley. I could see she was down, so I asked her what was wrong. She told me that her workplace had cut her hours, making it hard for her to pay for rent and food. I contacted Pastor Ledua from the Bethel Pentecostal Church to pray for her. With tears in her eyes, she hugged us both before leaving.

Ashley came back the following week, still a little sad but excited to tell us that her hours had increased by four. I asked how many hours she needed, and she said she wanted her full 40 hours back. I called Pastor Waqa, who was with us, to pray for her again. She mentioned she was interested in coming to church, but I suggested we focus on getting her hours back first. I believe God is helping us guide these individuals back to Him. That same night, I returned to the site to bring a blanket to a brother who had asked for one during our feeding.

After the feeding event, I gathered everyone to pray when I felt someone tapping my shoulder. I turned to see an elderly man behind me, asking for prayer. I called over Pastor Waqa, Brother Val, Brother Jonathan, Brother DJ, and myself, and we prayed together.

Every week, things seem to be getting better, and we feel blessed to be part of this important work.
